Yoga practice is gentle and safe. Practicing Yoga during pregnancy has long been recognised to be one of the most effective ways of managing pregnancy, labour and birth. My aim is to provide mums-to-be with a relaxed and friendly space from 14 weeks gestation until the baby's birth.
Classes run in blocks of four consecutive weeks focusing on the breath, body and baby awareness, strength and flexibility, optimal foetal positioning and preparation for labour.
Breathing exercises relax the nervous system bringing increased oxygen to the body and baby - and can be most useful during labour to help manage the contractions. You will develop breath awareness and breath control and the breathing practices taught will complement the techniques at antenatal classes.
You will practice deep relaxation, relieving tension and energising the whole body; you will develop body awareness so that you learn to listen and trust your body as your body develops.
Yoga can help you to approach labour and birth with confidence.
